My Lifestyle and My Website

About Me is really about who I am and what I enjoy.

From a very young age I discovered the beach and surfing, in fact I was raised on the beach so to speak. My dad was born and bred in Bondi and my mom not too far away in Belfield. Both are suburbs of Sydney but one is a little further away from the beach. I'll let you guess which one.

As a young fella every spare piece of time I had was spent on the beach playing amongst the waves, crawling over rocks and climbing around headlands. This instinctive behaviour is still within me today, that's why I love to explore discover enjoy...

This picture is all about me - a black sheep - that's why I put it there although I'm not aggressive. That was a bit of a crazy movie that one but anyways... I was always doing things somewhat different to the "norm".

To Know about me is to know that surfing and travel have been my life, yep, I've been "living the dream" as they say.

Since joining the workforce I've been able to work when I want and go surfing just about any time I liked. It's been a great life! I have literally spent my life at the beach . Here's me below doing what I enjoy

Twenty plus years ago I married Brenda and we have maintained that lifestyle and have been able to raise our child in a very good enviroment. Guess what he learned to do by the time he was ten?

About me was never about having quantity in life but more about having quality of life, the freedom to regularly venture up and down the coast to different destinations, make the annual pilgrimage to Bali to get out of the NSW winter and into some tropical warmth to keep the mind fresh and body sane.

I am the creative type by nature, and a bit of a dreamer also. I like to be free to manage my time, to do the things I want when I want, if you can relate to that? Working 9-5 is too much like a real job for me. I've tried it on occasion but I always feel saddened that I've sold my soul.

My thinking has always been if I have to trade hours for $$$ I prefer to be doing something I enjoy!

A few years ago I woke up one morning and said to myself; "self, why is it just when I start getting my head together my body starts falling apart"?

Age was telling me I couldn't go on making surfboards for ever even though I loved the testing and development side of business, I needed to find an alternative where I wasn't working over racks.

People always say if you work hard you can have the lot but I didn't really care for being the richest guy in the cemetery. I needed to work smarter not harder.

I knew the internet was the way to go and I really desired to minimize my overheads, cut back on unnecessary expenditure, get rid of those on the payroll, avoid the incoming sales calls and do whatever it was that would allow me to work more suitable hours when I wanted from wherever I could get an internet connection. That's not a lot to ask is it? I believe it's called FREEDOM

After all, I only wanted a bit more freedom to be creative, travel a some more, spend time with my family and... explore discover enjoy!

It's about my wife and child also. I'm passionate about surfing and travel and that's why I decided to build ideal-sydney-getaways.com. It's been fun putting my impeccable hunt and peck typing skills to use on this website. I wanted to build a travel site for all those yearning to getaway from the mundane stuff that often regulates us.

I wanted to provide something a little different, something educational, something as a reference for people like yourself to explore and enjoy around Sydney, New South Wales and Australia.
