Bondi Beach Australia is well known for its broard and expansive sands, as well as its consistent surf. The mecca of beach going in this country since the early 1900's. At that time there was much controversy over swimming attire but thankfully, there's no problem with it now. Nothing could be better than hanging by the waters edge on a hot summers day in a pair of boardshorts with friends or family.

Campbell Parade runs along the beachfront and is lined with numerous cafes and restaurants which draw many to common meeting points. There is a good range of accommodation including hostels, hotels and bed and breakfasts to choose from.

This coastal enclave is a modern and trendy city suburb very popular with overseas visitors and backpackers. Things to See and Do

Bondi beach Australia comes with attractive parklands around the beachfront where you can relax, play games or take a coastal walk. It’s popular with skaters, bladers and cyclists. There’s also a fantastic promenade which continues south along the coast past the headland to Bronte beach.

This fabulous coastal walk of Bondi Beach Australia takes you past a number of smaller coves until you reach Coogee. The walk is well worth doing. The views are excellent, and its very relaxing and enjoyable.

Swimming and Surfing at Bondi

Bondi is extremely popular with people from every country and there is ample opportunity to learn this most popular sport while you’re here. There is a small hire shop on the beach that offers both surfboards and bodyboards for hire and lockers to keep your personal belongings safe while you’re having fun.

For those visiting from overseas there are professional Life Guards employed by Waverley Council 365 days a year. They wear blue uniforms and are legends because they are the stars of the TV series Bondi Rescue.

Yes these blokes do work hard to look after all these beach goers but lets not forget those who volunteer also to patrol our beaches in the summer. These ones assist Lifeguards and they are called Surf Lifesavers and they wear red and yellow uniforms.

Remember to always swim between the flags and if you get into trouble while swimming stay calm and raise one arm above your head. This is the signal for help. no flags = no swimming

There are two surf life saving clubs on Bondi Beach: the Bondi Surf Bathers' Life Saving Club (claimed to be the oldest in Australia 1906) and the North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club.

Bondi beach Australia has the Pavilion Community Cultural Centre with art gallery, theatre, classes and other cultural activities. A café/gelateria, restaurant and a souvenir shop also operate out of the Pavilion. This pavillion used to be the change rooms but now people either come suited or change on the beach.
