Burrawang village on the NSW Southern Highlands is a fine example of rural life on the highlands, featuring some classic buildings of yesteryear (late 1800’s – mid 1900’s) and some typical rural character and atmosphere make it a popular alternative to the faster paced villages like Bowral, Mittagong and Moss Vale.
This peaceful country village is only small but it has some good things to view, offerings such as the fine old schoolhouse that has been restored or the Old Village Store and the local Village Hotel. This is a place where the rigours of city life just haven’t caught up yet and where neighbours still chat over the perfectly manicured hedges and country gardens. A place that time almost forgot! Even though it seems like miles from anywhere it’s quite easy to access Sydney, Wollongong, Kiama and Goulburn from here in less than 90 minutes.
Burrawang AccommodationBurrawang has some classic Bed and breakfast establishments from which to choose when on a weekend getaway or overnight stay. They offer old world charm and sophistication, something that is often missing from modern society and dwellings. With so much space around there is a couple of unique Farmstays that offer private and self-contained accommodation. There are many other lodgings available nearby at Robertson, Bowral and Kangaroo Valley but when takes in the priceless rural views this country village has on display you probably wouldn’t want to go anywhere else to stay.
Things to See and Do around BurrawangOpen rural plains, lush pastures and country gardens are the order of the day here. The town also has magnificent views of the residing Fitzroy catchment area where one can walk with nature while going as slow as they like and staying as long as they want. Waterfalls, Tourist drives, Country Villages, Historic Architecture, Wineries, Golf Courses, Craft Shops, Galleries, Cafes, Tea Rooms, award winning Restaurants, Village Markets, Museums, Parks and Gardens are what one can see and do when visiting this distinguished area. If you would like to be near the coast then travel straight to the bottom of MacQuarie Pass or Jamberoo Pass and find a shady place under the Norfolk Pines in Kiama or Shellharbour village and continue the day from there. But if you visit the Southern Highlands be prepared to spend some time absorbing the ambience and atmosphere and soaking up the scenery because there is only one NSW Southern Highlands and this is what make this popular getaways destination so unique.
