Circular Quay

Sydney's Harbour Hub!

Circular Quay is situated at the southern end of Sydney Cove, site of the historical landing place of the First Fleet in 1788. It is where the integral part of modern Australia was born. Today it plays an important role as Sydney’s harbour hub, a major tourist focal point with tens of thousands of visitors descending its shores every year to view the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.

A major Sydney tourist attraction Circular Quay has numerous small cafes, restaurants and highly visible buskers that regularly play a role in city’s character. The foreshore here has access to various Sydney localities by bus, train and ferry services as well as housing the International Passenger Terminal .

From here the two main thoroughfares George and Pitt Streets run south towards Town Hall and Central Railway through the CBD and shopping precincts. A walk up either of these streets can turn into a long event and sometimes a costly one if you like to spend, hmmm?

It’s worth the journey along these streets if you’re visiting for the first time or simply want to while away some time window shopping while in the city. Taking in Sydney Tower is also worth considering

With access to popular places such as The Rocks, Royal Botanic Gardens, Manly Beach Bondi and Taronga Zoo, it’s no wonder so many people come here.

Just taking a harbour walk here becomes a pleasant adventure on any given day but the real stars of the show are the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

The Railway station here has trains leaving every few minutes in either direction on the City Circle underground which as the name suggests skirts around the city in a circle stopping at various places including Central for journeys to other areas.

If you enjoy dining on fine seafood you might like to try the Sydney Cove Oyster Bar on the east side of the Quay. It’s a beautiful place for taking in the sites or just relaxing with friends over a drink or a meal.

Thanks for visiting, please visit again. Have a great day and don't forget to get out there and...
