Minnamurra

Where The River Meets The Ocean

Minnamurra and the Minnamurra Rainforest are both perfect places to visit at any time, the first, a small coastal village on the NSW South Coast a 90minute drive from Sydney, the latter a little way inland providing a most enjoyable experience in the Budderoo National Park under a canopy of lush sub tropical vegetation. Both make for a great weekend getaway or family holiday.

Highly regarded by locals and visitors as holding special value in that it captures all the facets of some mystical reclusive position while providing a quiet and non busy lifestyle that many people look for elsewhere. If you have visited you will know exactly what I mean, if you haven’t try it some time, you’ll be pleasantly surprised

With a perfectly unspoiled beach stretching between the Farm (Killalea State Recreation Park) and the river this area makes for a nice quiet place to get away from it all for a bit of surfing, fishing or a beach picnic. Kayaking, paddling or fishing on the river as an alternative can have you well in seclusion winding around the bends towards Jamberoo Valley.

Minnamurra Accommodation

There’s plenty of great accommodation around town and close by in Kiama and Shellharbour with fully furnished apartments, holiday houses, cottages and Bed and Breakfast lodgings as well as Hotels and Motels.

If you like Luxury then it is possible to indulge a little with waterfront properties that capture the colourful sunrises and allow you to do some fishing, snorkelling and diving from the front yard to immaculate rural retreats providing peaceful and serene surrounds amongst landscaped gardens and acreages where the only noise you here are the farm animals.

Minnamurra Attractions

The main attraction here would have to be the rainforest and falls, raw natural beauty up the back of the valley is just the thing to ease away any work related or anxious tensions, it really is a most wonderful place to visit. Experience one of the more accessible temperate areas of the Illawarra escarpment where native animals habitat side by side through the park. There is a couple of walks here one leading right up to the falls which is spectacular after any solid rainfall.

Other activities include country drives to the southern highlands, and Kangaroo Valley both only 40minutes drive or regional coastal cities Shellharbour or Wollongong. Visiting wineries in nearby Jasper Brush or Coolangatta should be on the cards if you like to take some time to discover refreshing tastes of the vines.
