My private Lightning Ridge beach

Well those Sydney Beaches sure look appealing, but being the bushy that I am I would far prefer to swim in my dam out at Lightning Ridge Opal field. Not much surf out there, but not many people either. A few too many flies but the solitude and the sound of birds and the thump of kangaroos leaping through the bush make up for it.

Lightning Ridge is about 1000 kms North West of Sydney. Most folks just hang around the cities, so they never get to see the real Australia with it's wide open spaces, amazing wildlife, and to cap it off, the rare black opal, Australia’s national gemstone, found at Lightning Ridge.

I don’t have a lot of time to say much right now, so looking at a few pics will have to do and if someone wants to know more about it, just leave a message on this blog.

I noticed this site doesn’t have a page on the opal fields, so if you want one just request it.
