Shelly Beach Manly

Another Sydney Secret Beach Gem

Shelly Beach Manly is probably the most commonly known of the Sydney secret beaches, not exactly a secret but a beautiful beach to come and visit none the less and a relatively easy walk from manly.

A protected marine reserve and scuba diving is very popular as is snorkelling. The shaded areas make for a good place to retreat to from the hot summer sun while the picnic tables and free gas bar-b-q’s allow you to enjoy a meal with family or friends. You can also venture over and around the headland to enjoy some wonderful coastal panoramas.

Pristine waters and safe swimming makes this one of the very few places protected from the southern ocean elements. Facing north into the sun all day allows folks to enjoy this hidden corner of Sydney with without the crowds of its nearby neighbor beaches.

Most visitors to Manly usually mill around the main beach or The Corso area with the many and varied restaurants and bars but iffens you take a leisurely stroll southbound along the promenade you’ll be surprised what awaits you.

Look for the eco-sculpture walk that starts on Marine Parade. These wonderful sculptures tell tales of local marine, plant and animal life along with some history and the threats they're facing in the modern age.

Le Kiosk is one of the great places to dine for lunch or dinner in Sydney... very popular... but if you’re here on a day trip you can grab a bite to eat right from the Sand Bar Cafe which is the take away outlet attached. It’s bang smack on the beach and offers a good opportunity to enjoy some refreshments or the tranquil atmosphere of the native surrounds.
