Silver Beach Kurnell

Visiting the Kurnell Peninsular

Silver beach Kurnell is a great place to take a daytrip out of the city to. Located on the quiet shores of Botany Bay on the Kurnell Peninsular this is place you can relax almost in seclusion, I say almost because Kurnell is a village and people do choose to live here because of its remote locale to the City.

Botany Bay National Park is adjacent and you could easily find yourself on a mission of discovery around the walking tracks, headlands and other places of interest locked away on more than 300hectares of reserve. A significant feature of which is Captain Cook’s landing place only meters away.

Nearby Towra and Bonna Points are a major breeding, feeding and roosting site for threatened bird species. More than thirty migratory bird species are using the Reserve for bree and living here, including the Japanese Snipe.

A Part of the Kurnell Peninsular

As part of the Kurnell Peninsular it remains most times only visited by a handful of locals or a few others who might cross the bay by personal watercraft to escape the more busier areas of Sydney. Either way it’s definitely worth a trip because it faces north into the sun all day and the water is usually calm making for easy safe swimming.

Silver beach is a haven that not many Sydneysiders know about and has such great activities available like fishing, snorkelling, boating and bushwalking, bike riding and roller blading.

Silver Beach Kurnell is punctuated by numerous man made rock groynes which create a number of individual smaller beaches between the Kurnell National Park and Bonna Point allowing for even more privacy. You can literally have a smaller beach all to yourself to enjoy some romance with the one you love or savour with family or friends.

The views across the bay to La Perouse and Port Botany elicit images of industry that only Sydney can produce on the waterfront but they’re far enough away to not be overly ugly, just typical city views. After all there is a lot of water to cross to get to the other side. You can always look westward back towards Kogarah Bay and realize how far from it all you might actually be. And I’m only telling it like it is.

Kurnell is a small town but you can find a shop or two there if you want food or drinks. Try the Silver Beach Cafe located along Prince Charles Parade opposite the beach and tell them Max from Ideal Sydney getaways sent you. Do enjoy your visit yeah!
