Walking around the harbour foreshores is enjoyable, a relaxing scenic alternative!
The most popular Sydney Harbour walking trails are between Pier one (west side under the bridge) and the Royal Botanic Gardens (east of the Opera house) although most people wouldn't realize it. Hundreds of thousands of people walk this path every year.
Popular Sydney Harbour Walks Circular Quay/Sydney Cove Locals and tourists all enjoy the well maintained space between the Rocks and the Opera House. There is ample room to move about comfortably, Circular Quay being the focal point serving the crowds with small cafes and restaurants as well as regular buskers. It's the hub of the harbour ferry system and there's a train station there as well. To get an idea on where I'm talking about click this link to view a google map. City of Sydney Master Plan is to create one long foreshore walk linking Rozelle Bay (city west) to Rushcutters Bay in the (city east) and all thats in between for the purpose of having recreational area on the south harbor foreshore. When complete this project will provide around 17kilometers of wonderful harbourscape and walking tacks for public usage.
