Thirroul NSWA great Sydney Getaways Destination
Thirroul NSW is one of the northern suburbs of Wollongong and a top place to spend a holiday in New South Wales. Located just 1hour drive from Sydney makes it a great place for a day trip or any romantic weekend getaways for those inclined to get out of the city.
The annual Seaside Festival draws a big crowd every year with many local artists and artisans displaying their hand crafts. The area supports a rich cultural heritage and there are treasured restaurants offering fine cuisine to all. This town has a great beach for family fun and access to various walking trails for the energetic.
Thirroul AccommodationThis coastal village is very popular for many desiring holiday accommodation during the New South Wales school holidays in the northern Illawarra. There is no caravan park here but there is one on Bulli beach which is the next village south and the smaller Coledale Beach Camping Reserve to the5minutes to the north. These are the most popular for family fun and relaxing on the beach. There a many bed and breakfasts available between Bulli and Stanwell Park with a number of them available locally. There is the Local Beach Motel and several Hotels close by as well as some retreats and garden cottages so finding what suits the occasion won’t be a hard thing to do.
ATTRACTIONS around ThirroulThe cycleway starts at the beach and heads south all the way to Shellharbour if you can cycle that far, for those that can’t maybe a short ride to Bulli or Woonona could be just the thing. It’s easy to enjoy a coffee in town with numerous cafés, in fact I think there’s one on every corner. Taking on the thrill of tandem Skydiving over Wollongong Beach is attracting many these days as does the peace and serenity of the Royal National Park.Hang gliding, motorcycle tours, horse riding and beach and water events are plenty here. Day trippers can unwind with a leisurely drive to Jamberoo, Minnamurra, Kiama or the Southern Highlands. The Illawarra Fly Tree Top Walk is a great way to see the Illawarra coastline from hundreds of meters above sea level and is worth a visit. Saturdays and Sunday afternoon usually see some kind of live entertainment at local Hotels in the area and this can be very entertaining at times also. Whatever you’re after there is plenty to keep people occupied.
